Symptoms of Poor Ovarian Reserve
- Difficulty in conceiving
- Abnormal menstrual periods
- The decrease in menstrual flow
- Miscarriage
Causes of Poor Ovarian Reserve
The natural cause of a reduction in ovarian reserve is age. There are various factors which cause low ovarian reserve.
It includes
- Autoimmune disorders
- Blockage or damage of fallopian tubes (tubal disease)
- Chemotherapy
- Radiotherapy
- Endometriosis
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Genetic conditions like fragile X syndrome
- Smoking
Diagnosis of Poor Ovarian Reserve
If you are trying to get pregnant, your doctor may ask about your age and previous medical conditions like painful menstruation, pelvic infection, repeated miscarriages, previous chemotherapy or ovarian surgery because these conditions are the reasons for low ovarian reserve.
There are also some blood tests which are helpful in the diagnosis of Poor ovarian reserve. This blood test measures the level of hormones which directly affect the ovarian reserve.
It includes:
- Follicle stimulating hormone level
- Estrogen level
- Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level
- Antral follicle count
Benefits of Shatavari for low Ovarian Reserve
- It Helps to Balance Hormones Level
Shatavari is a powerful herb which helps to balance the level of the hormones in the body. The imbalance in the level of some hormones like follicle stimulating hormone, estradiol level, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) leads to the low ovarian reserve and this further leads to low fertility.
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone
An elevated level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) lowers the ovarian reserve activity. Shatavari balances the level of FSH and stimulates the capacity of the ovary to produce an adequate number of oocytes.
- Estrogen level
Shatavari contains a phytochemical name as steroidal saponins which improve the production of estrogen and stimulate ovulation.
- Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) Level
Low level of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) means a low ovarian reserve. So, Shatavari improves the level of AMH and improves fertility by stimulating the reproductive potential of the ovary.
- In Tubal Disease
The tubal disease is a condition in which fallopian tubes get blocked or damaged which leads to the less production of egg cells from ovary. Excessive stress sometimes leads to the blocking of the fallopian tubes. Shatavari helps to promote the functions of the nervous system and prevents the negative effects of stress.
- Endometriosis
Endometriosis results in poor ovarian response. Excessive stress and depression also cause endometriosis. Shatavari improves brain function and helps to relieve stress.
