An infectious disease, chickenpox has nothing to do with poultry. It makes your skin rash enough to make you feel itchy and crazy. You also simultaneously get a fever that doesn’t seem to drive away but keeps lingering on. You can’t leave your house as it is an infectious disease that can spread like a wildfire in the people who comes in contact with you.

Chickenpox is a viral infection, which is caused by a varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Occasionally it is also called as varicella. 

Don’t create a catastrophe in your city, but certain home remedies are available that can heal a chickenpox patient or prevent its outbreak if taken as a preventive method.

1. Aloe Vera Gel

The skin becomes hot and itchy during chickenpox; Aloe Vera Gel has cooling properties that can make the skin smooth again. It has anti-itching properties, thus reducing the itchiness and also has anti-inflammatory properties which cool down the burning sensation by moisturizing the skin. This remedy is safe to use for kids too. Get an Aloe Vera Leaf (an organic one will provide you more benefits).     

Carefully slice the leaf and the gel comes out. Put this gel in an airtight container. Apply this fresh gel on the affected parts smoothly. Leave it on, it will function on its own. The container of Aloe Vera Gel should be kept inside a refrigerator. This gel is safe to use for the whole week. You can follow this procedure 2 to 3 times a day.

2. Oatmeal Bath

It is such an experienced remedy that can never go wrong, absorb the goodness of an Oatmeal Bath. It is a remedy that’s what the doctor recommended. Oatmeal bath cleans and soothes the infected skin, making it supple. The inflation caused by rashes is also reduced to a great extent.

Get 2 cups of oats, grind them, make a powder, soak them in 4 cups of water, let them lie in the water and wait for a few minutes. Now put this mixture in a cloth bag and secure it tightly. Now put this bag in the warm water of your bathtub and you also slide in the tub. Keep the infected part in the water for some time. If it is the face keep dipping and coming out to inhale and dip again. Or you can put a rubber pipe in your mouth so that you can breathe easily, keep the face dipped in for some time. Better have a bath every day.

3. Baking Soda Bath for Chickenpox

Baking soda has an anti-inflammatory property that soothes the itchiness and reduces the burning rashes from your skin. It is also anti-microbial in nature and enhances the pace of recovery from this infection. You can also add any anti-septic drops like Dettol or Savlon in your bath water and stay dipped for some time.

Get 1 cup of baking soda powder (it is found in most of the Indian kitchens). A bathtub with warm water, put this cup in the water and wait for 10 to 15 minutes so that it dissolves completely. Slide in and stay there for some time. Do it regularly, once a day is enough.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar or Brown Vinegar

Both these vinegars provide relief instantly, lower the scarring, and erase the scars left by chickenpox when applied, as it has anti-microbial properties.

Get a cup of brown or Apple Cider Vinegar and mix it in your warm water that is in your bathtub. Slide in and stay still for about 15 minutes. After coming out of the bathtub, rinse your body with plain water. If you feel the vinegar is too pungent, you can also add a few drops of essential oil like tea tree oil or lavender oil. Both these oils make you get lazy and both induce sleep. Have such a bath every alternative day.

5. Sea Salt or Dead Sea Salt

It also has anti-microbial properties that the Sea salt contains, helps in combating the germs and its anti-inflammatory properties reduce itching.

Get a ½ cup of Sea salt and 1 teaspoon of lavender oil, it is optional. Mix them in your warm water which is lying in your bathtub and stir well. Slide into the tub and keep sitting for at least 15 minutes. Come out and rinse your body with plain water. Better to have such a bath every day.

6. Neem Juice

The Indian Lilac, the neem tree has dozens of benefits and is packed with anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that provide instant relief from itchiness. This is potent enough that dries the blisters, thus healing accelerates. 

Get a handful of neem leaves, grind them and make a paste with plain water. Put some paste on the infected area and leave it for a few hours. You can also have a neem bath by dipping some cleaned neem leaves into your bathtub and soak your whole body in it, especially the infected part. Do it twice a day to reap in the maximum benefits.

There are many other herbs you can use to stay away or heal chickenpox, such as Lemon juice, which should be diluted and applied on the rashes with the help of sanitized cotton. Leave it for a few minutes then clean the infected area with a wet wash cloth. There are many more like Boiled Guava leaves for Chickenpox, herbal tea, Marigold Flowers, Witch Hazel Leaves, Water and Honey can also be used.
