The normal level of SHBG varies according to the age and gender of the person. For males, the normal level is 10-57nmol/L and for females 18-144 nmol/L. As the values denote that men have a low level of SHBG than females. But this SHBG level increases with age in men and the testosterone level decreases. Testosterone is the main male sex hormone which regulates fertility, fat distribution, muscle mass, and red blood cells production. Inadequate level of testosterone results in infertility.
