An Ayurvedic Approach to Constipation Relief

To heal constipation, one needs to look for its root cause first, and then treat it with the help of home and herbal remedies. When your bowels begin irregular movements making tough to evacuate completely or passing hard stools and sometimes along with bleeding, is known as constipation. 1. Triphala

It has the qualities that lie in its ingredients, which are Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), or Amla (the Indian gooseberry). All 3 are the fruits that are grinded to make a powder and then mixed to make Triphala powder. Take a half teaspoon and 1/4th teaspoon of cardamom seeds. Grind them and take this quantity twice a day. Triphala has glycoside that contains laxative properties and helps in relieving flatulence and indigestion. When digestion is healed, passing of stools becomes normal.

2. Liquorice Root or Mulethi

It can be used to heal chronic constipation, as it encourages peristalsis and helps in assimilation. Peristalsis is a process that pushes the wastage from the large intestine through the gastric system. Its quantity should not be more than 50 grams of the root extract at a time, twice a day after meals regularly can halt constipation and give you sign of relief. 3. Roasted Fennel or Saunf

It is a nice remedy to heal constipation. It also helps to deal with bloating, indigestion and irregular bowel movements. Get a cup full of fennel seeds and roast them. Take them off the flames and grind them and strain the mixture. Put this powder in a tight-lipped jar. Eat half a teaspoon of this powder with warm water. Its quick starts digestion by enhancing the production of gastric enzymes. That’s the reason it is provided in raw form cum sugar by all restaurants, the moment we eat meals.

4. Spinach

Spinach, especially when raw and organic, is extremely good for digestive system and is considered an effective remedy to cure constipation. It must be included in your daily diet, it enhances the flavor of your cooked dishes in your kitchen and provides immense benefits. It can be eaten raw, depends on your taste. If your constipation is in a serious state, drink half a glass of fresh spinach juice, by mixing the other half with distilled water, in a regular way.

5. Water

Water, looks like a cool and mild recipe for doing away the constipation, but the fact is that it a highly effective way to drive away constipation. In fact, water clears the way for digestion and also encourages the muscles of the stomach area to gain strength. When all the organs of the stomach begin functioning normally, digestion gets proper and makes it possible to push out the waste products efficiently.

How much water is required for this process, is an unanswerable question? More, the merrier is the only funda. Most probably it depends on your physical activity you do routinely. A normal person must have 8 glasses a day to keep hydrated to dodge constipation effects.

If you are feeling a little upset, try drinking water about 230-250ml after every 2 hours. To figure out how much your body needs water, for example if you weight 75kg, it means you need to drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water a day. 6. Castor Oil

It is extracted from castor beans in a natural way, because it possesses laxative properties. It tingles the bowel movements and lubricates the intestines without absorbing their moisturizer. In normal conditions, it has a sour taste, add 1 or 2 teaspoons of castor oil in a glass of warm milk and take it before going to bed.

7. Raw Honey

You have another option, put a teaspoon of honey into a glass of lukewarm water. Care should be taken that honey should be taken with hot beverages such as hot water. Add 1 table spoon of lemon in it. Drink this cocktail the moment you wake up, it will be more effective on an empty stomach.
