It is caused by bacteria, <em>Mycobacterium ulcerans<\/em>.  Buruli ulcer can be really dangerous as it can cause long term disability or  even permanent disfigurement. Not many have heard about this disease but the number of cases have been increasing  since 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" src=\"https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Natural-treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer.jpg\" alt=\"Natural treatment for Buruli Ulcer\" class=\"wp-image-2729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Natural-treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Natural-treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Its most cases are found in  tropical and subtropical countries like Africa, Western Pacific, South America and Australia. As a mode of transmission of  Buruli ulcers is not known hence it cannot be prevented. <em>Mycobacterium  ulcerans<\/em> belongs to the bacterial family which is the causative agents of  leprosy and tuberculosis. The only treatment present in modern medicine is  early diagnosis and prevention of long term disability or morbidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buruli ulcer causes severe  necrosis of skin, soft tissue and bone. Just like tuberculosis and leprosy,  this disease is also more common in people with compromised immunity. It is the third most common disease  caused by Mycobacterium  after both the diseases mentioned above. Usually, children are affected by  Buruli ulcer, mainly between the ages of 5-15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m1cVPxifDg0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs and symptoms of Buruli  ulcers:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>This disease usually begins  with a small painless nodule or swelling which gradually worsens with time. It can also start as a large  painless indurated area or swelling present on arms, legs or face. When present  on a face it appears like edema.\u00a0 <\/li><li>Usually as not much is known about this  disease, either it is not treated or wrongly treated. Gradually the swelling or  induration will ulcerate, mostly within 4 weeks or less.<\/li><li>This ulcer has undermined  borders and when the  bone gets affected it produces permanent deformity or disability. <\/li><li><em>Mycobacterium ulcerans<\/em> releases a mycolactone toxin which is a local  immunosuppressant. Due to this there is no fever and pain in the disease. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer-in-Ayurveda.jpg\" alt=\"Treatment for Buruli Ulcer in Ayurveda\" class=\"wp-image-2730\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer-in-Ayurveda.jpg 660w, https:\/\/ayucliniko.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/treatment-for-Buruli-Ulcer-in-Ayurveda-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diagnosis:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In endemic areas, Buruli  ulcers are easily diagnosed but in other areas, it is late diagnosed or  misdiagnosed.<\/li><li>Depending upon the location of the ulcer, its whole course, the age of the patient and  absence of pain and fever in initial days, other causes of ulcers should be excluded.<\/li><li>Other causes of ulcers to be excluded from the diagnosis are venous  insufficiency, chronic lower leg, phagedenic ulcers, diabetic ulcers and  extensive ulcerative yaws.<\/li><li>Early signs and symptoms where Buruli ulcers  start with small nodule or induration are often confused with ganglions, lipoma, boils, fungal infection  and lymph node tuberculosis.<\/li><li> So first of all your doctor need to exclude all  the above- said causes  and other health ailments.<\/li><li>The method used to diagnose this ulcer is PCR, i.e. polymerase chain  reaction, histopathology, microscopy, and culture.<\/li><li> Hence, patient\u2019s medical  history, travel history (if a person has recently visited the area where Buruli  ulcer is prevalent), physical  examination and laboratory examinations are done to diagnose a case of this  disease.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conventional Treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Antibiotics and surgery are the only means of treatment in modern medicine  where survival or recovery is not sure.
