Toxins (ama) as a result of vitiated doshas, mainly pitta and Vata &#8211; increase with consumption of sour, bitter, dry and spicy foods. Alcohol, tobacco and caffeinated beverages are also some of the contributed factors. Symptoms may include blood with motions, loose stools, Weight loss etc.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Epidemiology<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The\n     prevalence number of people having terminal ileitis is increasing steadily\n     during the last 50 years in the United States.<\/li><li>This\n     disease is slightly more common in males than females.<\/li><li>7, among\n     every 1 lakh people are affected with this disease. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Etiology <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cause of terminal ileitis is not known, as we do not have any proven theories about the cause but it is believed that it is caused by the factors listed below, as per modern science <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Genetics<\/li><li>Environmental Factors<\/li><li>Immune System Problems<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Genetics <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Brothers, children, sisters, parents affected with this disease are more likely to develop the disease themselves. The disease is more common in certain ethnic groups like people of Jewish descent and whites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Environmental Factors <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Environmental factors can also lead to the development of the disease. These factors may trigger the immune system and may damage the intestines directly to have terminal ileitis. These factors may include  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Cigarette smoke<\/li><li>Microbes like viruses or bacteria<\/li><li>Substances from something that has been consumed.<\/li><li>Key factors which are still unknown<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Immune System Problems <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The immune system protects our body from harmful microbes such as viruses, bacteria, fungi etc. and the body does not react to all microbes and hence, the immune system leaves them untouched. But the immune system of people suffering from this disease reacts inappropriately and the inflammatory response in the affected people does not stop and inflammation continues which results in ulcers to the intestine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Symptoms <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Terminal ileitis is intermittent\/ sporadic. It means that it is impossible to predict or we can say it is highly unpredictable that when this condition will flare up, how long the flare will last and when it will flare up again. The various tests to diagnose terminal ileitis are as follows <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Abdominal x-ray for locating the abdominal obstruction.<\/li><li>Flexible sigmoidoscopy \/ colonoscopy.
