Glaucoma is a disorder, which causes\nthe vision loss at a sluggish pace. You never feel it’s symptoms emerging\nunless they reach an advanced stage and then they show their worst form , these can\neven make you go blind. Any person who goes blind due to a disease will think\nthat he\/she is the most unlucky one. You consider yourself unlucky if you are\nborn blind, but getting blind after seeing this beautiful world is the most\nunluckiest thing happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glaucoma happens when\nthe pressure inside the eyes increases\n, it  happens because the fluid (aqueous\nhumor) builds up\ninside the eyes. Normally this fluid comes out in front of the eyes (anterior chamber)\nthrough tissue (trabecular meshwork) and flows out from the place where iris\nand cornea meet. When the fluid can’t come out like it used to be or there is some\ndifficulty in its\ndrainage, then this fluid causes pressure to build up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s symptoms vary in every person such as patchy blind spots, blurred vision, headache, eye pain, eyes get red, halos around the lights, nausea and vomiting. Ayurveda believes in taking certain precautions like avoid day time sleep, urud dal, yogurt, oily food and also avoid consuming fermented items. The pressure needs to be tackled firmly, pressure creates furor in Vata dosha, eye and its vriddhi are the main sights of Pitta dosha, having the fluid in Kapha dosha, so all 3 doshas are involved in glaucoma. It means this disease is not easily curable. Generally we use local treatments such as rose water pichu, triphala ghrit tarpana. Triphala ghrit relieves excess of Vata vriddhi. In general treatment, we use smriti-sagar, poonarnava kalpa etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
