Age:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Children younger than six are at\ngreatest risk of cold, especially if they spend time in a child care setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Weakened Immune System:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Having a chronic illness or otherwise\nweakened immune system increases your risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Time of Year:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Both children and adults are more\nsusceptible to cold in fall and winter, but you can get a cold any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Smoking:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You are more likely to catch a cold and\nto have more severe colds if you smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Acute Ear Infection (Otitis Media)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When bacteria or viruses enter the space behind the eardrum it leads to an acute ear infection.
