Basically, Vitiligo<\/a> or Leucoderma is a skin disease, in which white colored patches appear on your skin and you lose confidence as people often glare at you and making you get frustrated and lose your temper. Such a disorder is chronic in nature, it happens when the melanocytes (melanin production and distribution agent), which resides in the skin, die due to many reasons. It varies in each person differently. It might occur on any part of your body such as inside your mouth, eyes, and hair causing permanent discoloration. vitiligo or Shwitra<\/g> is an auto-immune disease and can invite diseases like Psoriasis, Thyroid and Pernicious Anemia. This disease is genetic and kids do get this disorder if their parents have had it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vitiligo is of 2 Types<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Segmented Vitiligo<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This type of vitiligo spreads at a hectic pace but is more stable than the other one. It is lopsided and effects those parts of the body that are linked to the nerves that originate in the dorsal roots along the spinal cord. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Non-Segmented Vitiligo<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Such type of Vitiligo occurs in equal proportion on both sides of the body and breaks out on the parts that are exposed directly to the Sun, like the arms, neck, and face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why it happens, nobody knows, but possible causes can be a trauma which happens due to a stressful event, genetic or chemical exposure. It might also happen due to disorders that weaken the immune system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Symptoms <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  • The first symptom is white patches appear on your skin.<\/li>
  • The first patches that appear are a little pale in color, might get paler with a passage of time and finally becomes white in the end.<\/li>
  • The edge of these patches might give you a burning sensation and cause itching.<\/li>
  • Their direct exposure to the skin might make it aggravated & annoy you. <\/li>

    Ayurvedic View <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In Ayurveda zone, Vitiligo or Leucoderma happens due to the Pitta dosha’s aggravation. Pitta is a dosha that symbolizes heat or fire and is visible in the skin itself. When Pitta gets aggravated leading to the assembly of Ama (toxins) in the deep layers of skin, and Vitiligo is inevitable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Pitta dosha<\/a> is of 5 types and one of them is Bhrajak Pitta that provides color to the skin texture. During Leucoderma, Bhrajak Pitta is in an imbalanced way, making the skin lose its power to retain the color and white patches begin appearing. Simultaneously deeper body tissues like Rasa dhatu (nutrient plasma), Rakta (blood), Mamsa (muscles) and Lasika (lymph) are also responsible for the appearance of white patches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In Ayurveda treatment is done by calming the imbalanced energies, purifying the blood and herbs are used to retain the color of original skin. Weak digestion is the main reason for the outbreak of this disease, as it causes the accumulation of toxins in the tissues of the body. So, restoring digestion becomes inevitable. The diet and lifestyle of the patient have to be adjusted accordingly so that this disease never recurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
