Pollution is on the rise all over this globe, smoke and dust are\nbecoming thicker and the air quality is deteriorating. When we come in contact with these dust particles\n, our body gets infected by the  harmful bacteria due to  these particles. According to ophthalmologist,\nkids are more prone to get infected  as\ntheir immune system is still in the  developing stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eyes are a very delicate sense organ of our body, these are more prone to infection. To prevent\nsuch an infection ambushing our eyes, we need to take certain steps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allergic conjunctivitis, famous as pink eye, causes the white part of\nour eyes turn pink or red due to inflammation created by this infection. Inside\nour eyelids, called conjunctiva gets infected easily by these allergens like\npollen grains, irritants like shampoo, cosmetic chemicals and foreign dust\nparticles. When a foreign particle invade  the conjunctiva,\nthe immune system present in the body start releasing anti-bodies that combat with these\nforeign particles, an allergic reaction like conjunctivitis takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also has certain symptoms like redness, itching and the eyes\nbecome watery, that’s the reason why this infection is called pink eye. If you\nalready have hay fever you might get infected by allergic conjunctivitis. Allergic conjunctivitis is not contagious, but\nstrikes both the eyes simultaneously. Once we become infected by this disease,\nwe should have a plan to get rid of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurveda’s cure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. According to Ayurveda the root of Daaru haldi<\/a> (Berberis aristata<\/em>) is very effective in healing conjunctivitis. Make the extract of this root by boiling it in water and their ratio should be 2: 26 respectively. Keep simmering unless the water is reduced to only 3 parts. Mix it with raw honey and use it as an eye ointment (collyrium).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Get the decoction of\nturmeric done. It has an anti-inflammatory  effect on the conjunctivitis. Either you can wash your eyes with its decoction or\nsqueeze the decoction over the eyes with the help of a soaked cotton cloth. Use\na different cloth for the other eye, otherwise the infection might spread.\nTurmeric has healing properties against allergic conjunctivitis. It has\nanti-bacterial properties that halts the further spread of allergic\nconjunctivitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Make Triphala lotion by soaking 15 grams of Triphala churna<\/a> in 200ml of water. Wait for half an hour, then boil it and later filter it. This mixture can be used to wash eyes 3 or 4 times every day. If Triphala churna is taken orally about 5 gram with water, it is quite useful in viral infections too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Rose water contains\nanti-inflammatory and coolant\nproperties. Instillation\nof few drops of rose water at least 4 or 5 times a day can reduce the\nallergic conjunctivitis. You can also put the sanitized cotton balls after\ndipping them in rose water and place them on the eye lids for a few minutes in a day. Regular use of\nthis process helps in reducing the irritation. Rose water is very cool &\nsoothes your eyes and helps in removing the dust particles that have entered\nyour eyes, which are  responsible for  causing allergic conjunctivitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Aloe Vera<\/a>  is an herb which is helpful in preparing numerous remedies in Ayurveda that treats plenty of diseases. It has compounds like aloin and amodin, which have anti-bacterial and anti-viral action  Both make Aloe Vera hold a vital position while healing allergic conjunctivitis. It also accelerates the recovery from the infection caused by the dust particles and helps in reducing inflammation. The Aloe vera gel needs to be applied on the affected area  The first sign of allergic conjunctivitis should be dealt by Aloe Vera gel. It never has any side effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
