Though it has a superficial resemblance to smallpox, it is an entirely different disease and less severe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the good news is that chickenpox is a common illness for kids and most people get better by just resting as you do with a cold or the flu. Once you are infected, you will develop immunity against the virus for your life after getting infected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cause of Chickenpox (Laghu Masurika):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chickenpox is caused by a virus called varicella-zoster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chickenpox spreads from an infected person to the children by direct contact or by droplets expelled while coughing, sneezing and breathing into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In Ayurvedic\nterms, laghu masurika or chicken pox is\ncaused by the vitiation of all 3 doshas:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Vata<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Pitta<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Kappa<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Signs<\/strong><strong> and Symptoms of Chickenpox: <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It may start out seeming like cold: you might have a runny or stuffy nose, and a caught. But 1to 2 days later, the rash appears, often in bunches of the spot, on chest and face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can spread out quickly over the entire body. Sometimes, the rash is even seen in ears and mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chicken pox blisters are different for everyone.\u00a0 Some people get just a few bumps and others are covered from head to toe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>fever\n<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>low\nappetite<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>headache<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>body\npain<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Red\nrashes which are converted into fluid-filled vesicles.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Vesicles\nburst and heal <\/strong><\/li><li><strong>tiredness\nand ill feeling <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Complication: <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Though chickenpox is very common, however in few cases,\u00a0 it may happen that the virus may spread to other sites or a superimposed bacterial infection takes place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The complications associated with chicken pox are\nas follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>bacterial infection <\/li><li>pneumonia<\/li><li>toxic shock syndrome<\/li><li>dehydration <\/li><li>ramsay hunt syndrome<\/li><li>bells palsy<\/li><li>postherpetic neuralgia<\/li><li>Reye&#8217;s syndrome <\/li><li>inflammation of the brain <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DIET:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Include soft and easy to swallow meals <\/li><li>avoid purgatives and citrus fruits<\/li><li>coriander and carrot soup <\/li><li>fresh juices and raw vegetables <\/li><li>eat curd, buttermilk <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>LIFESTYLE:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>While there is an infection, stay at home.<\/li><li>Avoid scratching the blisters because of the risk of infection.<\/li><li>Wear light, loose clothes to avoid skin irritation <\/li><li>Long sleeves and covering full parts of the body can help to discourage scratching.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ayurvedic\nManagement of Chickenpox:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trim the nails\nof your children and prevent them from scratching the rashes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Smear honey for the blisters in the mouth.<\/li><li>Boil turmeric and neem leaves in bathing water and take bath in lukewarm water. <\/li><li>A hot water bath should be avoided.<\/li><li>You can apply neem leaves paste, aloe vera gel, and turmeric to reduce itching and heal the blisters.<\/li><li>Take easily and light digestible food like softly cooked rice, gruel, barley water, moong dal soup, etc. Avoid spicy and oily foods.<\/li><li>Avoid sending children to school or outside.<\/li><li>Let them wear light, loose cotton clothes.
